After twelve years, Na Františku Hospital will resume operations at its own clinical laboratory. It is expected to open within a few months. Until now, laboratory services at the hospital have been provided by an outside company.
In 2011, the hospital’s management at the time shut down the in-house laboratory and entered into a contract with an external provider to supply clinical laboratory services to the hospital. After taking over as hospital director in 2018, David Erhart began planning to reestablish the hospital’s own laboratory.
After lengthy preparations and negotiations, an implementation team was formed, consisting of hospital staff and external contractors who contributed to the opening of the new laboratory.
The planned clinical biochemistry and hematology laboratory is intended to perform basic clinical tests for the hospital’s outpatient clinics and inpatient wards. In the future, the laboratory could also provide laboratory services to other healthcare facilities, including private practices of general practitioners and specialists. There are also plans to establish a blood collection site for the general public.
