The exhibition, titled “Through the Ages,” traces the historical development of Na Františku Hospital from its founding in 1354 to the present day. The exhibition, which is open to the public on Dvořákovo nábřeží from July through September, was officially opened on Monday, July 3, by Hospital Director David Erhart.
Na Františku Hospital is a true gem among healthcare facilities. It has been providing medical care around the clock for 669 years, making it one of the hospitals with the longest tradition in Europe.
On eight display panels mounted on the wall of the hospital grounds, visitors can learn a variety of historical facts and see what the hospital looked like in the 17th century or at the beginning of the 20th century, when the waterfront section was completed.
The exhibition also focuses in part on more recent events, specifically the floods of August 2002. Visitors can see how the hospital and its surroundings were affected by the floods and compare this with the changes that took place over the following two years, during which the hospital’s interiors and exteriors underwent extensive renovation and modernization.
The final section of the exhibition is devoted to the hospital as it stands today.
We cordially invite residents of Prague 1, all Praguers, visitors from outside Prague, and, last but not least, tourists to come and see the exhibition. The exhibition is located in a public space and admission is free. The texts are written in Czech and English.
The historical photographs and drawings were provided by the City of Prague Museum.
