Clinical Pharmacy

Clinical pharmacy is a rapidly evolving field with multidisciplinary applications that is an integral part of patient care.

A clinical pharmacist, a specialist in clinical pharmacy, provides consultation services in both inpatient and outpatient settings with the aim of ensuring safe, effective, and personalized patient care. Maximizing the benefits of optimal pharmacotherapy leads to a reduction in the incidence of adverse effects and, consequently, improved cost-effectiveness.

As part of the healthcare facility’s multidisciplinary teams, they contribute not only to optimizing patients’ pharmacological care but also to ensuring safe operations by supervising the handling of medications.

An integral part of the department’s activities is delivering lectures on state-of-the-art pharmacotherapy for healthcare professionals.

The department is part of the Working Group on Pharmacotherapy for Obese Patients, under the auspices of the Czech Society of Clinical Pharmacy of the Czech Medical Association of J. E. Purkyně, with a focus on adjusting medication for patients who have undergone bariatric surgery.
