New collection point at NNF

A new testing site will open at Na Františku Hospital on Monday

9. 10. 2020

Starting Monday, October 12, a testing site for coronavirus will begin operating on the grounds of Na Františku Hospital. It will be open every weekday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., with a capacity of approximately 100 tests per day. Both people with and without a referral can get tested there by appointment. Self-payers will now pay 1,600 CZK for the test.

“The cost of the coronavirus test is covered by health insurance for patients who have been referred for testing by a public health office or a primary care physician. The condition is that the public health official or primary care physician submits a request for testing to the central system, where we locate it and perform the test. In this case, the client pays nothing,” explained Hana Veselá, head nurse at Na Františku Hospital.

However, people who have not been referred for testing by a doctor or public health office but are still interested in getting tested may also do so. “If a client without a referral form makes an appointment at our testing center, we will require payment for the test. The price of a single test is 1,850 CZK,” said Veselá, adding that the testing center will only accept card payments.

Anyone who wishes to come in for a test—whether they have a referral or not—must first register using the online form available on the Na Františku Hospital website. Clients will be notified of their test results via text message or email within 48 hours of the sample being collected.

“The testing center has a separate entrance on Kozí Street, which is sufficiently far from the hospital’s main entrance, which is reserved for patients. The testing area is physically separated from the rest of the hospital complex. The reservation system, through which all clients must book their testing in advance, will also ensure that no lines form in front of the testing site,” said Václav Machek, Deputy Director for Technical and Operational Affairs at Na Františku Hospital.

Na Františku Hospital has set up a testing site after being selected by the Ministry of Health to join the core network of testing centers for COVID-19. The establishment of the center was coordinated in cooperation with the Prague 1 district, which owns the hospital, and the Prague City Hall. The hospital will manage the center’s operations, including sample collection, while the CITYLAB laboratory will conduct testing of the collected samples.
