Ethical Codes and Patient Rights

Below you will find the Patient Guide, a publication prepared by the Czech Ministry of Health as a practical guide for anyone who wants to better understand the healthcare system in the Czech Republic.

The patient guide explains in simple terms what rights and options you have as a patient, what healthcare services are available to you, and how they are provided.

The current fourth edition, published in 2020, reflects important changes in areas such as data protection, prescription of medications, palliative care, and the training of healthcare personnel. The chapters on medical transport, hospital meals, and the rights of children and people with disabilities have also been expanded. Information on spa treatment, rehabilitation care, and emergency services is also included.

The publication is available in Czech, English, and now also in Ukrainian.
